Home burglary in Stoke-on-Trent

Intruder enters Blurton flat

According to an article published on 23 December 2025 by Stokesentinel, a residential burglary occurred in a flat located above a business on Blurton Road in Stoke-on-Trent. On November 18, at approximately 3:30 a.m., residents woke to find an intruder standing next to their bed.

Stokesentinel reports that the burglar, identified as 45-year-old James Corcoran, had entered the property and retrieved a knife from the kitchen. When confronted by the occupants, Corcoran fled the scene. He was later located by police sleeping in a nearby porch and was subsequently arrested. The defendant, who pleaded guilty to dwelling burglary with intent to steal, has been sentenced to 45 months in prison.

The court heard that while the residents had secured the property, the exact method of entry remained unclear, though the defendant claimed he entered through an open window. The incident caused significant distress to the occupants, who were students residing in the flat.

Always ensure that all doors and windows are securely locked at night and never leave keys in locks where they can be reached from the outside.
