Home invasion on Detroit's east side leaves one dead and one hospitalized

A violent home invasion occurred on Thursday morning at an apartment located on Houston-Whittier Street in Detroit. According to reports, a male suspect forced entry into the residence by kicking in the door and subsequently opened fire.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene following the shooting. A second individual was injured during the incident and has been transported to a local hospital for treatment.
