Hooded Gang Targets Bridgwater Shops in Tobacco Theft Raids

BRIDGWATER — A gang of hooded thieves targeted multiple retail premises in Bridgwater, leaving behind a trail of destruction and stealing large quantities of tobacco products.

The coordinated commercial burglaries occurred in quick succession. According to reports from the targeted shops, the suspects, wearing hoodies and facial coverings to obscure their identities, forced entry through doors and front windows, causing significant structural damage.

High-Value Tobacco Stolen

Once inside, the gang focused their efforts on behind-the-counter displays and storage areas, taking high-value tobacco products before escaping the scene. Business owners expressed frustration over the vandalism and financial losses, noting that the repair costs for the damaged facades could match the value of the stolen goods.

Avon and Somerset Police are conducting inquiries, reviewing CCTV footage from local businesses, and speaking with staff members. Store owners are advised to enhance their security measures, particularly around cash registers and tobacco gantries, as the investigation continues.
