Hotel burglaries reported in Torquay

Security alert for Torquay hospitality businesses

According to an article published on 17 April 2025 by Devonlive, the Babbacombe Hotel in Torquay was targeted by two burglars who stole high-value jewellery and cash from guest rooms. The suspects reportedly spent several hours on the premises on Sunday, 13 April, knocking on doors and speaking to guests before using a tool to bypass locks on at least 11 rooms.

Devonlive reports that the individuals returned to the hotel the following evening. Staff identified the pair via CCTV and alerted the police, but the suspects evaded capture despite a search involving police dogs. The hotel owner has since released the footage to warn other local businesses and hoteliers to remain vigilant.

Business owners are encouraged to review access control systems and ensure that staff are trained to report suspicious individuals loitering in private corridors immediately.
