Jail for cruel burglar who targeted disabled Bulwell man in early hours raid
BULWELL, NOTTINGHAM โ A burglar who left a disabled man terrified as he ransacked his home has been jailed. Kyle Goodman, 25, of no fixed abode, broke into the victim's flat in Bulwell in the early hours of July 28, 2024.
The victim, a 25-year-old disabled man, was lying in his bed at approximately 5:30 am when he heard the sounds of an intruder entering his property. Due to his physical disabilities, the man was unable to get out of bed to confront the intruder or escape, leaving him completely vulnerable as Goodman searched through his belongings.
Valuables Stolen and Bank Cards Abused
Goodman ransacked the flat's living room and stole a laptop, reading glasses, a vacuum cleaner, and the victim's bank card. Shortly after fleeing the scene, Goodman used the stolen bank card to make several fraudulent transactions at local businesses.
Nottinghamshire Police quickly tracked down and arrested Goodman. He later pleaded guilty to charges of burglary and two counts of fraud by false representation.
Sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court
On September 4, 2024, Goodman appeared at Nottingham Crown Court, where a judge sentenced him to two years and two months in prison. Police officers described the burglary as an "incredibly cruel and cowardly act" that targeted a vulnerable individual in the safety of his own home. The victim spoke of the lasting emotional trauma, stating that the incident had shattered his sense of security.
