KILLEEN, Texas โ The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating an early morning aggravated robbery and shooting that occurred outside a local convenience store, leaving one victim hospitalized and a suspect in custody facing multiple felony charges.
Altercation and Gunfire on Roy Reynolds Drive
According to police reports, officers responded to a disturbance call at approximately 4:00 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Roy Reynolds Drive. Callers reported a physical fight involving a firearm in the parking lot of a convenience store. Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers discovered two men locked in a physical struggle on the ground, with one of them suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect confronted the victim at gunpoint in the store's parking lot, demanding money. The encounter quickly escalated into a physical altercation as the victim attempted to defend himself. During the struggle, the suspect's firearm was discharged multiple times, striking the victim.
Suspect Identified and Apprehended
The suspect was immediately disarmed and arrested at the scene by officers. He has been identified as 22-year-old Dorian Maurice Chalk. In addition to the charge of aggravated robbery, Chalk faces two counts of assaulting a public servant after he reportedly resisted arrest and physically assaulted two officers during his transport.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local medical center with non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Unit are continuing to interview witnesses and review nearby surveillance footage to piece together the sequence of events.
