Crime spree in Stoke-on-Trent
According to an article published by Birminghammail on 11 April 2026, a 31-year-old man has been sentenced to nine years and four months in prison following a series of knifepoint robberies in Stoke-on-Trent. The incidents occurred on Thursday, 23 October of last year.
Birminghammail reports that the offender first targeted a taxi driver on Dawlish Drive in Bentilee. After threatening the driver with a knife, the man stole the vehicle. He subsequently drove to a petrol station on Ruxley Road in Bucknall, where he used the weapon to demand cash and stole a quantity of cigarettes, tobacco, and vapes. Shortly after, at approximately 3.40pm, the individual approached a woman at The Potteries Shopping Centre in Hanley and forcibly removed two gold chains valued at ยฃ2,000.
Police apprehended the suspect nearby and recovered the stolen jewellery and tobacco products, alongside the knife used during the spree. The perpetrator later admitted to three counts of robbery and three counts of possession of a bladed article at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
