Knoxville Man Charged with Attempted Aggravated Rape and Burglary in Armed Home Invasion

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A local man has been arrested and hit with multiple felony charges after authorities say he forced his way into a Knoxville residence while armed with a knife, attempting to sexually assault an occupant inside.

The Knoxville Police Department responded to an emergency call reporting an active break-in. According to police reports, the suspect allegedly entered the victim's home without consent, carrying a knife. Once inside, the suspect confronted the victim and attempted to commit aggravated rape.

The victim was able to resist the attacker and alert the authorities. Officers arrived on the scene quickly, locating and detaining the suspect nearby without further incident. The suspect has been charged with attempted aggravated rape, especially aggravated burglary, and aggravated assault.

"This was an incredibly dangerous situation, and we commend the quick response of our officers and the bravery of the victim," a spokesperson for the Knoxville Police Department said. "We are working closely with prosecutors to ensure that the individual responsible is held fully accountable under the law."

The suspect is currently being held on a high bond at the Knox County jail. Homicide and major crimes unit detectives continue to investigate the incident to determine if the suspect may be linked to any other unresolved home invasions or assaults in the Knoxville area.
