Residents in Armagh are being urged to secure their vehicles following the theft of a Land Rover Discovery in what police describe as the latest keyless car theft incident. The luxury SUV was taken directly from outside a property, leaving the owner shocked and raising alarm among local vehicle owners.

Keyless car theft, or relay theft, typically involves thieves using electronic signal transmitters to intercept the signal from a vehicle's key fob inside a house. This allows them to unlock and start the car without needing physical possession of the key. Police have noted a rise in similar sophisticated vehicle thefts targeting premium models across the County Armagh area.

Authorities have issued security advice to owners of keyless entry vehicles. Recommendations include storing keys in signal-blocking Faraday pouches or metal boxes, installing physical steering wheel locks, and ensuring home security cameras or motion sensors are directed toward parked vehicles.
