LAPD Seeks Suspects in South Los Angeles Street Takeover and AutoZone Looting
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA โ The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has released new surveillance images and details as they intensify their search for suspects involved in a massive street takeover and the subsequent looting of an AutoZone retail store.
The chaotic incident, which took place at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Hoover Street, began as an illegal street takeover drawing hundreds of spectators. During the event, a subset of the crowd vandalized and breached the nearby AutoZone. Police estimate that dozens of individuals participated in the pillaging of the establishment, stealing car parts, electronics, and tool kits.
Detectives have compiled extensive video evidence and security footage, showcasing several key individuals who actively forced entry into the store and organized the removal of merchandise. Authorities are urging anyone who can identify the individuals in the released footage or who has additional information about the organizers of the street takeover to contact the LAPD.
Community leaders and local business advocates have condemned the destruction, calling for more aggressive enforcement against illegal street takeovers, which they argue serve as breeding grounds for broader criminal activity and theft.
