Large Quantity of Cigarettes and Tobacco Stolen in Carlisle Petrol Station Burglary

Detectives in Carlisle are investigating a commercial burglary at a local petrol station where a large quantity of cigarettes and tobacco was stolen. The incident took place during the early hours of Thursday, 9th April 2026, prompting a widespread appeal for witnesses and information from the public.

According to Cumbria Constabulary, offenders gained entry to the premises on the outskirts of Carlisle. Once inside, they targeted the main kiosk area, systematically removing tobacco products and cigarettes from the display cabinets. The suspects fled the scene before police could arrive, leaving behind damage to the property but no injuries to staff, as the station was closed at the time.

Officers have carried out initial forensic examinations and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the service station and surrounding roads. Police are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or vehicles in the vicinity between midnight and 4:00 AM on 9th April to come forward. They are also asking motorists who were in the area and have dashcam footage to check their recordings for any potential leads.
