Leica Robotic Total Station Valued at $21,000 Stolen from Stevens and Smith Construction
LINCOLN, Nebraska โ The Lincoln Police Department is investigating the theft of a high-value piece of surveying equipment from a local commercial property. On April 15, 2026, representatives from Stevens and Smith Construction reported that a yellow Leica robotic total station had been stolen from their shop facility.
The construction shop, located at 181 Harwood Street in Lincoln, reported that the theft occurred at some point over a five-month window leading up to the middle of April. Because the equipment is not used daily and was stored securely, the exact date of the break-in remains unknown.
High-Value Surveying Equipment Target
The stolen device is a yellow Leica robotic total station, an advanced piece of surveying technology valued at more than $21,000. According to representatives of Stevens and Smith Construction, the device is easily identifiable as it was marked with prominent "Stevens and Smith" company stickers at the time of its disappearance.
Robotic total stations are highly specialized instruments used by land surveyors and civil engineers to measure angles and distances. Due to their high retail value, they are frequent targets for specialized commercial thefts. Lincoln Police are asking anyone with information regarding the theft or who may have been offered the equipment for sale to contact the department at 402-441-6000 or submit an anonymous tip through Lincoln Crime Stoppers.
