Lincoln Avenue Business Targeted in Chicago Commercial Burglary Spree
CHICAGO, IL โ A series of commercial burglaries has left local business owners along Lincoln, Lawrence, and Central avenues searching for answers. Surveillance footage captured thieves systematically targeting retail locations, stealing valuable power tools in the process.
Chicago police are investigating the incidents as potentially related, noting similar methods used to breach security at three different establishments in the North and Northwest Side neighborhoods.
Thieves Caught on Camera
Security cameras at one of the affected properties recorded the moments the suspects broke into the premises. The footage shows individuals moving quickly through the workspace, focusing specifically on high-value power tools and equipment. The speed and precision of the theft suggest the perpetrators may have targeted these specific items beforehand.
โThey knew exactly what they were looking for,โ said one store manager, who asked to remain anonymous. โThey bypassed other merchandise to grab the commercial-grade tools, causing thousands of dollars in property damage and inventory loss in under five minutes.โ
A Growing Pattern of Commercial Thefts
The burglaries occurred within a close timeframe, prompting concerns from the business community. Police have urged business owners along the Lincoln, Lawrence, and Central corridors to review their surveillance setups, ensure alarm systems are active, and secure valuable tools in reinforced storage areas overnight.
No arrests have been made, and detectives are asking anyone with information or additional surveillance footage to contact the Chicago Police Department.
