Livonia's 'Hazmat Bandit' Charged After Neighborhood Break-In Spree and Assaults
LIVONIA, Michigan — A Livonia resident is facing multiple criminal charges, including assault, after being identified as the suspect behind a series of bizarre attempted break-ins that left a local neighborhood on edge. The suspect gained notoriety online as the "Hazmat Bandit" due to the protective white suit he wore during his crime spree.
The neighborhood was first alerted when security cameras captured a man in a white painter or hazmat suit attempting to gain entry into several homes. After a second break-in attempt, community anxiety mounted, prompting residents to share security footage and coordinate with law enforcement. Authorities eventually identified the suspect as a neighbor living within the same community. The situation escalated during one of the encounters, leading to additional charges of assault against the suspect.
