Long Beach Homeowner Fires Shots at Burglars, Causing Them to Crash and Flee

Police are searching for multiple suspects who fled on foot after an attempted residential burglary in Long Beach. The incident took a dramatic turn when the homeowner intervened using a firearm, leading to a collision and a subsequent manhunt.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident occurred when the homeowner heard intruders attempting to break into the residence. Defending the property, the homeowner fired several rounds toward the suspects. While it is currently unknown if any of the intruders were struck by the gunfire, the shots caused the suspects to panic and rush to their getaway vehicle.

As they attempted a hasty escape, the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a nearby obstacle shortly after leaving the driveway. Following the crash, the suspects abandoned the damaged vehicle and fled the area on foot before police officers arrived at the location.

LBPD officers, along with K-9 units, searched the surrounding neighborhood but were unable to locate the suspects. Investigators are examining the crashed vehicle and looking for potential forensic evidence to help identify the burglars. Authorities are also reminding residents to prioritize their safety and call 911 immediately in case of a break-in.
