Lululemon Store Targeted in Late-Night Burglary on Chicago's North Side
CHICAGO โ A popular athletic wear retailer was targeted by burglars early Friday morning on Chicago's North Side, marking another incident in a series of retail thefts affecting the city's commercial districts.
According to the Chicago Police Department, officers responded to a commercial burglar alarm at the Lululemon storefront on Chicago's North Side. Upon arrival, police discovered that the glass front door of the retail store had been completely shattered, allowing intruders to gain access to the showroom floor.
Surveillance footage from the area indicates that a crew of individuals arrived in multiple vehicles. The suspects forced entry into the establishment and quickly cleared out clothing racks of premium athletic apparel, focusing primarily on high-value leggings and outerwear. The group managed to escape in their vehicles before responding officers arrived on the scene.
No injuries were reported during the incident, as the store was closed to the public at the time. Store management and corporate representatives are currently assessing the total value of the stolen merchandise, which is estimated to run into the thousands of dollars. The North Side of Chicago has experienced a wave of smash-and-grab style robberies targeting high-end apparel brands over the past year, prompting local business associations to call for increased police presence and improved security measures.
At this time, no suspects are in custody. Area Three detectives are actively reviewing local security camera feeds and public safety camera footage to identify the license plates of the getaway vehicles and the identities of the suspects.
