Man and Teenager Arrested Following Series of Leeds Burglaries and Ram Raid
A 47-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth have been arrested by West Yorkshire Police following a crime spree across Leeds, which included a dramatic ram-raid at a local supermarket. The suspects remain in custody as investigators link them to multiple incidents, including commercial break-ins and a knifepoint robbery.
The sequence of events culminated in the early hours of Wednesday when a Morrisons Daily convenience store in Armley was targeted at approximately 03:15 GMT. Suspects used a stolen Volkswagen Golf and a Hyundai to ram the storefront. Following the raid, police officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit, successfully recovering both cars. Officers later confirmed the vehicles had been reported stolen during a residential burglary in Pudsey on Monday morning.
Detectives believe these vehicles link the suspects to a wider network of crimes. In the early hours of Monday, a knifepoint robbery occurred at an industrial unit in Bramley. Around the same time, burglaries were carried out at the Cardigan Arms pub in Bramley and a Morrisons Daily store in Pudsey. Further attempted burglaries at Gull's convenience store and a completed burglary at the Fairfield Local storeโboth located in Bramleyโare also being linked to the duo.
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that both the adult and teenage suspect are being questioned on suspicion of burglary, robbery, and motoring offenses. Detectives are urging any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage from the affected areas in Armley, Bramley, or Pudsey, to contact them to assist with the ongoing inquiry.
