Man Arrested and Charged with Grand Larceny in Northwest D.C. Business Theft

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metropolitan Police officers have arrested and charged a suspect following a theft at a business in Northwest Washington, D.C., where cash was snatched directly from a register drawer.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the suspect entered a commercial establishment in the Northwest quadrant. According to investigators, the suspect approached the counter and waited for the register to be opened during a transaction. The suspect then reached over the counter, grabbed an undisclosed amount of currency directly from the till, and fled the premises on foot.

Responding officers quickly saturated the area after receiving a detailed description from store employees. The suspect was located and taken into custody a short distance away without further incident. The stolen money was recovered and returned to the business. The individual faces charges of grand larceny and theft, with a court appearance scheduled in D.C. Superior Court.
