Man Arrested Following Armed Robbery at Capital Mall in Olympia

OLYMPIA, Wash. — A man has been taken into custody by Olympia police following an armed robbery at the Capital Mall on Tuesday afternoon, authorities reported.

The incident occurred inside one of the retail establishments at the popular shopping center, causing brief alarm among shoppers and store staff. According to police, the suspect displayed a weapon during the robbery before fleeing into the mall's parking lot. Mall security and staff acted quickly to contact 911, providing dispatchers with a detailed description and direction of travel.

Responding officers flooded the area, establishing a perimeter around the mall property. Within minutes, units spotted a man matching the suspect's description. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was detained and arrested without further incident. A weapon and the stolen merchandise were recovered at the scene of the arrest.
