Man Attacked with Knife and Robbed in Newtownabbey Car Incident

Detectives are investigating a violent incident in Newtownabbey during which a man was attacked with a knife and robbed while in his vehicle on Sunday, 23rd June 2024.

The victim was reportedly inside his car when he was approached by an assailant. The attacker, who was armed with a knife, threatened and assaulted the driver before stealing personal belongings and fleeing the scene. The victim sustained injuries during the assault and was left deeply shaken by the ordeal.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the victim received medical treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. The police have cordoned off the area of the incident to conduct a detailed forensic examination of the vehicle and surroundings.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland described the attack as "extremely serious and terrifying for the victim." They added: "We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this attack, or who noticed any suspicious behavior in the area around the time of the incident, to get in touch with us immediately."

Detectives are particularly interested in speaking to motorists who were driving in the vicinity of Newtownabbey on Sunday afternoon and who may have dashcam footage that could assist in identifying the suspect.
