Man Charged After Violent Christmas Day Beating and Attempted Robbery in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Knoxville man has been arrested and charged in connection with a violent assault and attempted robbery that occurred on Christmas Day, according to police reports released on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on December 25, 2023, when local authorities responded to a report of an active physical altercation and robbery attempt. Investigators state that the suspect confronted the victim, demanding money and personal belongings. When the victim refused to comply, the encounter quickly turned violent.

According to court documents, the suspect repeatedly struck and beat the victim, causing significant facial injuries and contusions. Despite the physical assault, the suspect was unable to successfully secure the victim's property and fled the scene before police units arrived. The victim was subsequently treated for injuries sustained during the attack.

Following an investigation by Knoxville Police Department officers, the suspect was identified and taken into custody. He has been officially charged with attempted robbery and aggravated assault. The suspect is currently being held at the Knox County Detention Facility pending his initial court appearance.
