Man threatened Waco business employees with baseball bat, walked out with tip jar: affidavit

WACO, Texas — A tense confrontation unfolded at a Waco business when a man armed with a baseball bat threatened employees before stealing a tip jar from the front counter, according to an arrest affidavit released by local authorities. The suspect was subsequently apprehended and faces charges related to the aggravated robbery.

According to police documents, the individual entered the establishment brandishing the bat in a menacing manner. He confronted the staff on duty, demanding money and making explicit threats of physical harm. The employees, prioritizing their safety, did not attempt to engage the suspect physically during the incident.

Rather than accessing the main cash register, the suspect grabbed the employee tip jar, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, and quickly left the premises. Witnesses provided officers with a description of the suspect and his direction of flight, allowing law enforcement to locate and arrest the suspect shortly after the incident took place.

The affidavit details that the suspect now faces charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. The affected business owners praised the quick actions of their staff in de-escalating the situation and thanked the Waco Police Department for their rapid response in capturing the individual before anyone was injured.
