Man Wanted After Robbing Victim at Machete Point in East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Law enforcement authorities in Charlotte are requesting public assistance to locate a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery involving a machete. The incident, which occurred in east Charlotte, left the victim shaken but physically unharmed, according to police reports.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) reported that the robbery took place on Wednesday. According to the victim's statement to investigators, a man approached them, produced a large machete, and demanded their personal belongings. Fearing for their life, the victim complied with the suspect's demands and handed over their property.

The suspect fled the area immediately after the confrontation. CMPD officers searched the vicinity, but the suspect was not located. Detectives have described the suspect as a male individual, and they are currently reviewing any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residential security systems in east Charlotte to track his escape route and obtain a clearer description.

Police have warned the community that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous due to the weapon used in the offense. Residents are advised not to approach the suspect if spotted, but to immediately dial 911. Anyone with information regarding the incident, the identity of the machete-wielding robber, or his current location is asked to call the CMPD robbery division or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
