Manhunt Underway After Knife-Point Robbery at Harrogate Fish and Chip Shop

A manhunt has been launched in Harrogate after a fish and chip shop was targeted in a terrifying knife-point robbery. North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information to trace the suspect described as 'overweight'.

Armed Robbery Details

The incident occurred on the evening of December 14, 2025. A man entered the local fish and chip shop, produced a knife, and threatened the staff working behind the counter. He demanded cash from the till, and after receiving an undisclosed sum, fled the premises on foot. Fortunately, no staff members were physically harmed, though they were left extremely shaken by the ordeal.

“This was a traumatic incident for the staff members involved, who were simply doing their jobs. We are seeking a suspect described as an overweight male, who was wearing dark clothing.”

Police Appeal and Suspect Description

Detectives have released details of the suspect's appearance, noting his build as a key identifying feature. Police are reviewing local CCTV footage and asking anyone who was in the vicinity at the time, or who noticed an individual fitting the description running from the area, to come forward immediately to aid the investigation.
