McKinley Park Smash-and-Grab: ATM Stolen From Shell Gas Station

CHICAGO — Chicago police are investigating a daring smash-and-grab burglary at a Shell gas station in the McKinley Park neighborhood, where thieves successfully stole an entire ATM.

The incident took place early in the morning at the station located on South Damen Avenue. Authorities report that the suspects utilized a vehicle to crash through the glass front doors of the convenience store. Once inside, they quickly loaded the automated teller machine into the vehicle and fled before police arrived.

This incident reflects a persistent trend across Chicago, where commercial establishments are targeted for their ATMs using heavy vehicles as battering rams. The impact left the Shell station with significant structural damage and forced a temporary closure of the convenience store section.
