Meat theft at Oxford community farm
Theft reported at Oxford community farm
According to an article published on 26 November 2025 by the BBC, a community farm in Oxford has suffered a significant loss after meat worth ยฃ2,000 was stolen. The incident occurred on Saturday at Oxford City Farm, where 120kg of pork was taken from storage units.
According to the BBC, the farm manager stated that a sledgehammer was used to gain access to the units. The stolen meat came from pigs reared by staff and volunteers. Thames Valley Police are currently investigating the incident and have appealed for information.
The BBC also reports that a separate break-in occurred on the same night at a nearby allotment managed by the mental health service Restore, where power and hand tools were stolen. Police have not yet confirmed if the two incidents are linked.
Business owners should ensure that all storage areas are secured with high-quality locks and consider installing monitored alarm systems to deter unauthorized access.
