MONEYGUN Bar in West Loop Burglarized in Rapid Succession Commercial Theft

CHICAGO — A popular West Loop establishment was burglarized in the early hours of Thursday morning, highlighting an ongoing struggle with commercial break-ins across Chicago's trendy dining and nightlife districts.

According to the Chicago Police Department, intruders targeted MONEYGUN, a well-known bar located on Lake Street in the West Loop. The suspects forced their way inside by breaking a window or glass door, triggering an alarm system. Once inside the venue, the burglars ransacked the bar area and office, seeking cash registers and safe storage boxes.

The incident occurred within 20 minutes of another commercial burglary at a Mr. Submarine restaurant on Fullerton Avenue in Lincoln Park. The close proximity in timing has led investigators to believe that the same crew may be responsible for both break-ins, utilizing vehicles to move rapidly between neighborhoods on the city's North and West Sides.

No injuries were reported, and the bar was closed to patrons during the incident. MONEYGUN management has been assessing the damage and inventory to determine what was taken. The West Loop has experienced a surge in commercial break-ins and vehicle thefts over the past year, prompting local business owners to call for more collaborative policing strategies and private security patrols.

No arrests have been made. Area Three detectives are checking surrounding businesses for security footage that may have captured the suspects or their getaway vehicle. Business owners with relevant video or information are asked to contact police investigators.
