Montclair Homeowner Confronts Intruder in Kitchen During Residential Break-In

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A terrifying encounter unfolded in a local neighborhood as a homeowner confronted a burglar inside their own home, marking one of two residential break-ins reported to Montclair police in a single day.

According to police reports, the confrontation occurred on March 18, 2026, when the resident walked into their kitchen and discovered an unknown individual who had unlawfully entered the home. Upon being confronted, the intruder quickly fled the premises. Police responded immediately to search the area, but the suspect remains at large.

The incident was one of two burglaries reported in the township on the same date. The second incident involved a separate residential property where entry was gained, and valuable belongings were reported stolen. Authorities are reminding residents to keep all doors and windows secured, use external lighting, and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
