Multiple Syracuse Teens Arrested After Smoke Shop Burglaries in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. — Police have apprehended multiple teenagers from the Syracuse area in connection with a series of burglaries targeting commercial smoke shops in New Hartford, including a prominent incident on Kellogg Road.

The investigations began in December 2025, when the New Hartford Police Department arrested two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, from Syracuse. The youths were accused of breaking into a local smoke shop and stealing merchandise. The trend of commercial break-ins continued into mid-2026, leading to a secondary investigation and further arrests.

In May 2026, authorities responded to another smoke shop burglary on Kellogg Road. Two suspects were identified and subsequently taken into custody following the incident. According to court records and police statements, these break-ins shared a similar modus operandi, involving late-night forced entry and the targeting of high-value specialty items and cash registers. The suspects face charges including third-degree burglary and grand larceny, and the cases are being processed through the regional court system.
