Muncie burglary suspect allegedly used 2×4 to beat victim’s head in, steal tools from his truck
MUNCIE, Indiana — A Muncie man is facing severe felony charges after allegedly attacking a vehicle owner with a wooden 2×4 board during a burglary attempt, leaving the victim with critical head injuries before stealing tools from the victim's truck.
According to court documents filed by the Muncie Police Department, the violent altercation occurred when the victim caught the suspect actively burglarizing his truck, which was parked outside a residence. When confronted, the suspect did not flee but instead grabbed a wooden 2×4 board and repeatedly struck the victim in the head. The force of the blows caused significant trauma, requiring immediate emergency medical intervention.
After incapacitating the victim, the suspect allegedly gathered several expensive power tools from the truck bed and fled the scene on foot. Responding officers located the suspect nearby shortly after the incident, still in possession of the stolen tools. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of head lacerations and a suspected concussion.
The suspect has been charged with burglary resulting in bodily injury, aggravated battery, and theft. He is being held at the Delaware County Jail without bond, and prosecutors indicate that additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
