Naperville Man Charged with Burglary After Causing $10K in Damage to Walgreens

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — A local Naperville man has been taken into custody and charged after allegedly breaking into a Walgreens pharmacy, causing extensive damage to the store's entrance and interior inventory.

According to prosecutors, the burglary occurred in the early hours of March 7, 2024. Police responded to an automated commercial alarm at the Walgreens location and found the front glass doors shattered. A search of the store revealed that the perpetrator had ransacked the pharmacy area and merchandise aisles before fleeing the scene.

Officers located the suspect nearby shortly after the break-in. He was identified as a Naperville resident. Investigators estimated that the break-in caused up to $10,000 in property damage to the storefront, display cases, and retail stock. The suspect has been charged with commercial burglary, criminal damage to property, and theft. He is currently being held in county custody pending a bond hearing.
