New York Man Indicted in Federal Court for Stealing $325,000 in Snow Crabs from Worcester Warehouse

WORCESTER, Mass. โ€” A New York man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Worcester in connection with a multi-state cargo-theft conspiracy, which included the audacious heist of over $325,000 worth of frozen snow crabs from a local warehouse, federal prosecutors announced.

Romoy Forbes, 31, of Deer Park, New York, is facing charges of conspiracy and the interstate transportation of stolen goods. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Forbes was arrested by federal agents on February 5, 2026, in Long Island.

The Seafood Heist

According to court documents, the theft occurred on July 15, 2025. Prosecutors allege that Forbes and his co-conspirators hacked into the email accounts of legitimate logistics and trucking companies. Posing as employees, they booked valuable cargo shipments from unsuspecting distributors.

Forbes allegedly arrived at a Worcester cold-storage warehouse operating a tractor-trailer and presenting falsified paperwork. Believing he was an authorized driver, warehouse employees loaded 33,750 pounds of frozen snow crab legs into his trailer. Rather than delivering the cargo to its intended customer in Jacksonville, Florida, Forbes allegedly drove the shipment directly to Queens, New York, where it was sold on the black market.

A Broader Conspiracy

Federal investigators revealed that the Worcester crab heist was part of a larger conspiracy that resulted in the theft of more than $800,000 in commercial goods. The network is accused of stealing pallets of fresh blueberries, bulk shipments of beer, and over $430,000 worth of designer cologne. Forbes faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the charge of interstate transportation of stolen goods.
