Over $300,000 in Rare Pokémon Cards Stolen in Sawtelle Armed Robbery

SAWTELLE, LOS ANGELES, CA — In a highly targeted heist, armed robbers made off with an estimated $300,000 worth of rare Pokémon cards after holding victims at gunpoint in the Sawtelle neighborhood of West Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department and NBCLA, the robbery took place at a location housing a significant collection of high-value trading cards. Multiple armed suspects confronted the victims, brandished firearms, and demanded access to the valuable collectible inventory. The thieves systematically gathered pristine, graded Pokémon cards—including highly sought-after vintage holographic pieces—before escaping the scene.

The market for collectible trading cards has skyrocketed in recent years, turning rare cards into highly liquid, high-value targets for organized criminals. Detective units are investigating whether the suspects had inside knowledge of the collection's location and value, as the heist appeared meticulously planned.

No serious physical injuries were reported during the armed robbery, though the victims were left shaken. Police are searching for security footage from the residential and commercial streets of Sawtelle and are asking anyone with information or who notices bulk listings of rare cards online to contact local detectives.
