PA Man Extradited, Charged in Retail Store Burglary in Leesburg
LEESBURG, Virginia โ A Pennsylvania man has been extradited to Virginia and formally charged in connection with a commercial burglary at a retail store in the Leesburg Premium Outlets, authorities announced.
Timothy Earl Root, 59, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was transferred to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on March 3, 2026. The charges stem from an investigation into a break-in at the Aeropostale store, located at the popular outlet mall in Leesburg, which occurred in November 2024.
According to the Leesburg Police Department, Root faces several serious charges, including commercial burglary, possession of burglars' tools, grand larceny, and destruction of property. Investigators allege that Root was part of a heist that targeted the retail establishment, resulting in the theft of high-value merchandise and significant property damage to the storefront.
After a multi-agency investigation tracked Root to Pennsylvania, local law enforcement coordinated with Loudoun County authorities to execute the extradition process. Root is currently being held without bond as he awaits his initial court appearance. Police have not ruled out additional suspects or charges in relation to the November 2024 incident.
