Controlled medication stolen in Jarrow pharmacy break-in

According to an article published on 27 December 2025 by Chroniclelive, Northumbria Police have launched an investigation following a burglary at Boustead Chemist on Albert Road in Jarrow. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Chroniclelive reports that offenders forced entry into the premises and caused damage before fleeing the scene. A quantity of controlled medication, specifically Morphine Sulphate and Oxycodone, was stolen during the break-in. Superintendent Lynne Colledge has issued a warning to the public, advising that individuals should not consume any medication that has not been properly prescribed by a doctor or pharmacy. Any found medication should be taken to a nearby police station for safe disposal.

Northumbria Police are currently appealing for information regarding the incident. Members of the public who can assist with the investigation are asked to contact the force using the reference number NP-20251227-0042.

Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures, including alarm systems and reinforced storage for high-value inventory, to deter potential intruders.
