Armed robbery at a Winterbourne pharmacy
According to an article published on 14 March 2025 by Bristolpost, a pharmacy in Winterbourne was targeted in an armed robbery. Daniel Bennett, 41, entered the premises carrying a knife and forced staff to the back of the store, threatening them to obtain prescription medication.
Bristolpost reports that after stealing the drugs, Bennett fled the scene in a vehicle driven by Natasha O'Driscoll, 34. A child was also present in the getaway car. Police later located O'Driscoll and recovered the stolen medication, while Bennett was apprehended in the car park of a nearby pub in possession of a knife and further drugs.
While none of the pharmacy staff sustained physical injuries, they reported being left shaken and vulnerable by the encounter. Bennett has been sentenced to six years and nine months in prison, while O'Driscoll received a community order and a fine for her role in the incident.
Businesses are encouraged to review their security protocols and ensure staff are trained on emergency procedures to handle high-risk situations safely.
