Pittsburgh Man Arrested After Home Invasion and Threatening Teens in Squirrel Hill
PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police have arrested a suspect in connection with a frightening home invasion that occurred in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood late last month. The suspect, identified as 59-year-old Jerry Chambers, was taken into custody after a joint investigation involving multiple local police departments.
The home invasion took place on the afternoon of Saturday, November 29, 2025, at a residence along Beechwood Boulevard. At the time of the break-in, two teenagers were home alone. According to police reports, Chambers entered the residence, stole cash, a student identification card, and several other personal belongings.
Before leaving the scene, the intruder threatened the two teenagers, warning them not to contact the police. Following the incident, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police issued a public appeal for information, distributing descriptions of the suspect. Chambers was eventually arrested by Verona police on unrelated theft charges, leading investigators to connect him to the Squirrel Hill burglary.
Jerry Chambers faces a laundry list of criminal charges, including burglary, robbery, theft by extortion, and aggravated assault. He is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail pending his preliminary hearing. Local residents expressed relief at the arrest, noting that Beechwood Boulevard is typically a quiet, family-friendly residential corridor.
