Police Appeal After Break-In at Lichfield Antiques Shop

Detectives in Lichfield have launched an appeal for information following a break-in at a popular local antiques shop. The incident, which occurred in the historic city center, resulted in the loss of several unique and valuable historical pieces.

Midnight Break-in Targets Historic Items

The burglary took place in the early hours of February 28, 2026. Intruders forced entry through the rear of the shop, bypassing security systems to target specific display cabinets containing high-value antique jewelry, silverware, and rare collectibles. The owners discovered the break-in early in the morning and immediately contacted the authorities.

Investigation and Forensic Analysis

Forensic officers have examined the scene, and police are gathering CCTV footage from surrounding businesses. Due to the specialized nature of the stolen goods, investigators suspect they may be offered for sale online or directly to other antique dealers.

"These items are highly distinctive, and their loss is devastating to the local business owner," said an investigating officer from Staffordshire Police. "We urge anyone who is offered antique jewelry or silver under suspicious circumstances, or who saw anything unusual in the city center overnight, to come forward."

Business owners in the surrounding area are also advised to check their security cameras and report any suspicious activity observed overnight.
