Police Appeal After Easter Eggs and Handbag Stolen in Birkenhead Flat Burglary
BIRKENHEAD, MERSEYSIDE — Merseyside Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witness information following a burglary at a residential flat in Birkenhead, where two Easter eggs and a handbag were among the stolen items.
The break-in occurred at approximately 4:40 am on Monday, April 6, 2026, at a flat located on Grange Road West. During the incident, an intruder gained access to the property and stole a handbag containing a purse and bank cards, alongside the two Easter chocolates.
Neighbourhood Inspector Nicola Hughes urged local residents and anyone who was in the area to come forward with information. "I would urge people who saw someone acting suspiciously on Grange Road West to please contact us," Inspector Hughes said. "I would also ask people who were in the area to check their dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to see if they may have captured something which may be vital to the investigation."
Grange Road West, which has recently drawn local attention and been colloquially dubbed "Wotsit Street" due to its bright orange and yellow road markings, is currently the focus of police enquiries. Forensic examinations of the scene have been carried out, and officers are actively reviewing CCTV and smart doorbell footage from the surrounding area.
Members of the public who have information regarding the burglary, or who may have captured suspicious activity on their home security systems, are requested to contact the Merseyside Police social media desk via X (formerly Twitter) or Facebook at the 'Merseyside Police Contact Centre', quoting reference number 26000269578.
