Police Investigate Armed Home Invasion in Southwest Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Police are searching for several suspects following a violent armed home invasion in Southwest Philadelphia that occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving the local community on high alert.

Officers responded to a residential property near the 5400 block of Chester Avenue after receiving reports of an active home invasion. According to investigators, three armed suspects forced their way through the front door of the home, which was occupied by several adults at the time. The intruders, armed with handguns, ordered the residents to the floor, threatening them before demanding cash, jewelry, and electronics.

The occupants complied with the demands, and the suspects fled the scene shortly after. No injuries were reported, though the victims were deeply shaken by the encounter. Police believe the residence may have been targeted, though a motive has not yet been confirmed.

The Southwest Detective Division is handling the investigation. Crime scene units processed the home for fingerprints and DNA evidence. Anyone who witnessed suspicious vehicles or individuals in the vicinity of Chester Avenue between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM is urged to contact investigators.
