Police Investigate Farm Burglary and Vehicle Theft on Wrexham-Cheshire Border
An investigation has been launched by police following a series of rural burglaries and a vehicle theft on the border between Wrexham and Cheshire. The incident, which took place overnight between April 16 and April 17, 2026, has prompted police to urge local residents to review their home and farm security measures.
Masked Thieves Target Farm
According to reports from the North Wales Police Rural Crime Team, the primary incident occurred at a farm in Lower Wych, near Whitchurch, between midnight and 1:30 a.m. on Friday, April 17. Four suspects wearing balaclavas entered the property and managed to steal a Land Rover. The vehicle was later recovered nearby, having suffered significant damage before being abandoned by the culprits.
Sheds Ransacked for Tools
In a related incident on a neighboring farm, offenders targeted outbuildings between 10:00 p.m. on April 16 and 4:30 a.m. on April 17. Several secure sheds were broken into, with thieves making off with a high-value collection of power tools. Police believe the two incidents are linked and part of a targeted spree targeting rural border communities.
Public Appeal for Witnesses
Detectives and rural crime officers are actively seeking witnesses who may have seen suspicious vehicles or individuals in the Lower Wych area during the night in question. Anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage, or other relevant information is urged to contact North Wales Police via their website or by calling 101, referencing incident numbers 26000301111 or 26000301922.
