Police investigation following robbery at Cambridge betting shop

Police appeal for information regarding Betfred robbery

According to an article published on 1 September 2025 by Cambridgenews, Cambridgeshire Police are currently seeking information regarding a robbery that occurred at the Betfred bookmakers on Burleigh Street, Cambridge, on 17 July.

Cambridgenews reports that a man entered the premises shortly after 9pm and demanded cash. After being handed approximately £2,500, the individual exited through the rear of the shop. Police have released CCTV images of a suspect described as a tall, white male in his late 30s with a white beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hoodie, a black snood covering much of his face, and was carrying a black bag.

Detective Constable Callum Fullwood stated that the incident was traumatising for those involved. Authorities are requesting that anyone with relevant information, CCTV, or dashcam footage contact the police at 101, quoting reference 35/53443/25.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that their internal security and surveillance systems are regularly tested and fully operational.
