Police investigation into assault and robbery on Derby A52 footbridge

Officers from Derbyshire Constabulary have launched an investigation following a serious assault and robbery that took place on a footbridge crossing the busy A52 highway. Police are appealing for any motorists or commuters who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with information.

The incident occurred on the pedestrian footbridge, where the victim was approached by offenders who assaulted them before forcibly stealing their personal belongings. The victim sustained minor physical injuries during the attack and was left deeply shaken. Following the assault, the suspects fled the footbridge in an unknown direction.

Due to the footbridge's prominent location over the A52, officers believe that drivers passing beneath the bridge around the time of the incident may have seen the assault taking place or noticed suspicious activity on the steps leading up to the bridge. Derbyshire Constabulary is asking anyone with dashcam footage from the area or any other relevant information to get in touch to help identify the perpetrators.
