Police Issue Warning After Wave of North Side Business Burglaries

Multiple Neighborhoods Targeted in Spree

CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department has issued a formal warning to business owners on the city’s North Side following a series of commercial burglaries. Four establishments were targeted within days in Andersonville, Norwood Park, and Edison Park.

According to the police alert, the burglaries occurred during the early morning hours when the businesses were closed. The offenders gained entry by smashing front glass doors or prying open rear security doors, focusing specifically on cash registers, safe boxes, and high-value electronics.

Safety Recommendations for Business Owners

In response to the spree, the Chicago Police Department has released a list of security recommendations for local business operators:

• Ensure security cameras are fully operational and positioned to capture entry points.
• Keep exterior lighting on throughout the night.
• Avoid leaving large sums of cash inside registers or easily accessible locations overnight.
• Reinforce glass entryways with security film or metal grates.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the targeted storefronts to establish if the same crew is responsible for all four incidents. No arrests have been made, and investigations remain active.
