Police Release Footage of Irving Park Restaurant Burglaries

CHICAGO โ€” Chicago police are requesting assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in a string of commercial burglaries that occurred in the Irving Park neighborhood on the city's Northwest Side. Investigators have released surveillance footage showing the perpetrator break into multiple local establishments, including popular dining spots Mima's Taste of Cuba and Angelo's Wine Bar.

According to police reports, the break-ins occurred during the early morning hours. In each instance, the suspect forced entry through windows or doors of the closed businesses, searched the premises, and made off with cash registers, safes, and other valuables.

Owner-operators of the targeted venues expressed frustration over the incidents, noting the significant financial burden of physical repairs alongside the loss of stolen revenue. Community members and local business associations have rallied in support of the affected businesses, calling for increased police patrols in the commercial corridor.

The released video shows a suspect clad in dark clothing and a face covering, methodically moving through the restaurants. Detectives are reviewing this and additional security footage from surrounding properties to trace the suspect's movements before and after the burglaries.

No suspects are currently in custody. Anyone with information regarding these break-ins is strongly encouraged to contact Area Five Detectives or file a report confidentially with the Chicago Police Department.
