Police Search for Bank Robber in Military Uniform in Sarasota

SARASOTA, FL — Police in Sarasota are searching for a brazen bank robber who disguised himself in a military uniform to carry out a heist on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred on July 18, 2025, when the unidentified male suspect entered the local bank branch wearing what appeared to be an official military combat uniform. Witnesses reported that the suspect approached the teller counter, presented a demand note, and claimed to be armed, though no weapon was actively displayed during the robbery.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect quickly exited the building and fled on foot in an unknown direction. Police units and K-9 teams searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the robber.

Detectives have released surveillance photographs of the suspect in uniform and are asking for any information from the public that could lead to an arrest. 'We are asking anyone who may have seen someone dressed in military gear acting suspiciously in the area to contact us immediately,' a police spokesperson said.
