Police Search for Suspect After Armed Robbery with BB Gun in East Liberty

PITTSBURGH, PA — Detectives from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Zone 5 are requesting the public's assistance in identifying a suspect who allegedly robbed an East Liberty business on Saturday afternoon using a BB gun, which was subsequently left behind at the crime scene.

According to official reports, the armed robbery occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on June 8, 2024. Responding officers arrived at a commercial establishment located in the bustling 6100 block of Penn Avenue. Investigators established that a male suspect entered the business, brandished a weapon that appeared to be a long-barreled rifle, and demanded cash from the store employee.

In a surprising turn of events, police determined that the weapon used to threaten the staff was a BB gun. The suspect abandoned the replica firearm inside the store before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No store employees or bystanders were injured during the encounter, though the staff was shaken by the ordeal.

The suspect is described as a male wearing a white shirt, a pink hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black sneakers with white soles. The Pittsburgh Police Department has released description details to local media and is actively reviewing security camera footage from neighboring businesses in the East Liberty corridor.
