Police Seek Suspect After Series of Attempted Burglaries Near Lichfield

Staffordshire Police are searching for a male suspect connected to a series of "brazen" attempted burglaries that took place near Lichfield. The suspect reportedly targeted several homes in rural and semi-rural residential areas during daylight hours.

Daytime Attempts Disturb Residents

The incidents, reported on May 9, 2025, involved a lone male attempting to gain access to properties through side doors and windows. In multiple cases, the suspect was confronted by homeowners or alerted security alarms, causing him to flee the scene on foot before taking any property.

Suspect Description and Police Warning

Police have released a description of the suspect, described as a male of medium build, wearing dark clothing and a hooded top. Residents in the villages surrounding Lichfield are urged to ensure their doors and windows remain locked, even when they are at home, and to report any unidentified individuals loitering near properties.

"These were brazen attempts during the day, which suggests a complete disregard for the presence of occupants," said a police representative. "We are asking neighbors to share any CCTV or dashcam footage that might help us identify this individual before he strikes again."

Local neighborhood watch groups have been notified, and police presence has been temporarily increased in the surrounding villages to deter further activity.
