Pregnant Burglar Posed as Cleaner to Steal ยฃ548,000 in Jewelry from Ultra-Luxury London Mansion

LONDON โ€” In a daring and highly calculated heist, 24-year-old Luminita Zamfir managed to breach the security of one of London's most secure and luxurious private residences by posing as a professional cleaner. The incident occurred on February 5, 2025, when Zamfir approached the ยฃ105 million property, which is recognized as the second-largest home in London, and informed the household staff that she had been sent by a cleaning agency for a scheduled trial shift.

Sophisticated Ruse Gains Access

Believing her cover story, staff members escorted Zamfir into the mansion. Despite the property's advanced security systems and staff presence, she managed to navigate the rooms undetected. During her brief stay, she located and stole an array of high-value jewelry valued at ยฃ548,565. The stolen items included premium rings, diamond necklaces, and designer earrings. By the time the theft was discovered, Zamfir had already slipped out of the estate unnoticed. None of the stolen items have since been recovered.

A Spree Targeting Multi-Million Pound Estates

The raid on the ยฃ105 million mansion was not an isolated event. Court proceedings revealed that Zamfir was a serial offender targeting wealthy London estates. In November 2024, she had targeted an ยฃ11 million property, where police recovered her DNA from a discarded tissue left at the scene. She also carried out a burglary at a ยฃ1.6 million home belonging to a property management couple, using similar tactics of deception to gain access.

Guilty Plea and Legal Consequences

Zamfir, who gave birth while held on remand, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary at Wood Green Crown Court in May 2025. Judicial authorities noted the high value and targeted nature of her crimes, indicating a lengthy custodial sentence is inevitable. The police continue to investigate the whereabouts of the stolen luxury goods, though they believe they may have already been sold or moved abroad.
