Puyallup Police Pursue ATM Thieves Who Used Stolen Excavator and Fled in Stolen Pickup Truck

PUYALLUP, Wash. — A wild police pursuit unfolded through the streets of Puyallup after a group of thieves used a stolen excavator to uproot a bank ATM and fled the scene in a stolen pickup truck, local authorities reported.

The incident began in the early morning hours of November 30, 2024, when officers responded to reports of heavy machinery operating near a commercial area. Upon arrival, police discovered that suspects had used a construction excavator, stolen from a nearby work site, to rip an entire ATM from its base. The thieves then loaded the ATM into the bed of a stolen truck and sped away.

Puyallup police officers spotted the fleeing vehicle and initiated a pursuit. The suspects led officers on a high-speed chase through local streets, driving recklessly to evade capture. Due to safety concerns and public risk, the pursuit was eventually terminated, and the suspects managed to escape. Investigators are currently processing the abandoned excavator for DNA and fingerprint evidence. Detectives are urging local business owners to check their security cameras for any footage that might help identify the individuals involved in this well-coordinated robbery crew.
